A Brief Starcraft II Strategy Guide

By Mike Vavases

StarCraft's highly anticipated sequel, StarCraft II is a Blizzard Entertainment developed science fiction themed game. The base game, Wings of Liberty, was released in 2010 on July 27th and will be followed later by two expansion packs, Legacy of the Void and Heart of Swarm. Whatever their skill level, all players will be sure to benefit from a helpful StarCraft 2 strategy guide.

The story is set in the near future of the Milky Way galaxy and is set around three separate species. The Protoss, an intelligent group with overpowering mental powers, the Terrans, the exiled humanoids of planet Earth, and the Zerg, an assortment of different groups infected with the same virus. The main game focuses, for the most part, on the excommunicated Terrans and is set about five years after the occurrences of 98's StarCraft: Brood.

The video game's central character, Jim Raynor, returns to this installment as a bitter alcoholic. Rather than a linear game, the campaign consists of Raynor accepting odd jobs and using the money to upgrade his stats and units. Unlike the first StarCraft, every play through is different but the end result is mostly the same.

The quickest way to master the game is by learning and memorizing its hotkeys. The added shortcuts make the game extraordinarily easy and the extra seconds they spare really start to add up, they will also allow players enjoy the game more without having to constantly look at their keyboards. A list of StarCraft's hotkeys can be found in the game's instruction manual as well as numerous sites online.

In most jobs, the very first thing the person should do is have their Star Craft Vehicles working. Be sure they are searching for minerals or collecting vespene gas. If the specific mission you are on needs tons of building, then have your command center working to build more vehicles. You will need plenty of the special vehicles to be able to gather up precious rocks and gases.

On these campaigns, you will have to build up a strong army too. However, when it is time to send those units into battle or other various engagements, don't let their mission override your command center's need for protection. Be sure to leave behind an appropriate number of troops to watch over the sensitive command base. Use the right hotkey command on them since, otherwise, they might ignore attacks gong on nearby.

Knowing everything about the different races of the campaign is very crucial too. The race's weaknesses and strong suits are important factors and should be slowly considered before picking one to play as. It is very useful to take advantage of their positives.

To improve your stats and strategy, study its replays carefully. StarCraft's instant replays are very detailed and informative. Viewing them will let you know literally everything regarding the game from what places that attacks occurred and how many vehicles were utilized. Watching the replays after the game will help you quit making the same mistake again.
